Curriculum Information
The demand for private education has grown over the last few years. It is believed that the elementary years are the most critical years in a child’s education. Integrity, attitude, work ethic, confidence and a sense of personal responsibility set the stage for future learning habits. These are called the “foundation years” when children develop a range and depth of knowledge, social skills and an interest in continuing to develop their education. The right school can make a profound difference in a child’s academic education, social development and future. Since 1993, The Phoenix Schools has partnered with parents in developing high-achieving, confident, young scholars.
At most elementary schools, 25 – 35 students share the same classroom and the attention of one teacher whose energy is spread across several subjects. Limited resources may affect the amount of art, music, drama, and other important and enriching experiences. The Phoenix Schools averages a 17 -20 student/teacher ratio and students are taught on an individualized level which matches the students’ abilities. Hands-on learning is also integrated through science investigations and field trips which enhance the whole child.
A school that is indecisive in its goals and methods or tries to please everyone has a difficult time upholding high standards of academic rigor, integrity, and presentation. The Phoenix Schools is known for its high academic standards and consistent curriculum from one grade level to the next.
A school that must accommodate everyone cannot best serve everyone. Large populations with vastly differing needs, shifting educational methods, and one-size-fits-all approaches hinder the development of a strong and effective educational program. The Phoenix Schools is an independent school which has developed an outstanding program that places students at their ability level in a learning environment where the students feel daily success.
In many schools, well-intended teachers struggle to help their student’s progress, but do not always have the support of the parents, administration or district. The Phoenix Schools prides itself in its partnership with parents and students to provide a rich learning environment that result in student success.
A good education is not always guaranteed by the latest textbooks, educational trends, or computers in every classroom. Likewise, the best education is one in which students respect themselves, teachers and others, and where the students assume responsibility themselves. The Phoenix Schools, with its defined philosophy, curriculum, consistent teaching methods and life skills program produces students who stand out among their peers. Our educational program is designed to assist the individual student in achieving his/her maximum potential.
