Wherever, Carl goes and wherever the future takes him, you (every one of you) have had a positive influence on him. I have watched him mature and gain self confidence while under your tutelage. I’ve seen him come along way since he began at Phoenix, while he still struggles academically, he now knows that he can achieve if he makes the effort. I at a personal level have appreciated your friendship you are a very talented, gifted and wonderful team.

Karen Mayer — Kindergarten

My name is Karen Mayer and I’m a Kindergarten teacher at The Phoenix Schools Elementary, Folsom. I’ve been part of the Phoenix team for eight years now and have found it to be a very rewarding experience. Teaching is more than just a job for me it’s a passion. I love being instrumental in the development of the bright young minds that grace my classroom each and every day. Kindergarten is the first step in a long journey of education and I hope that what my students learn in my class prepares them for a bright future ahead.

I attended Bella Vista High School and graduated in 1990. From there I attended American River College for 2 years, then went on to CSUS where I earned a B.S. in Speech Pathology in 1995. In addition, I attended National University where I furthered my education and worked towards my career in teaching.

Last, but certainly not least, I’ve been happily married for over ten years now and have two beautiful daughters, Michaela and Taylor. I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping, traveling, and reading.
