Folsom Campus Specialty Classes
Art has been shown to have academic benefits especially when tied to the core curriculum. Our art program is tailored to each grade level to ensure that this is happening. Art is linked to higher test scores, improved visual and spatial skills, hands on problem solving, risk taking and the benefit of working a multi-stepped project to completion.
Physical Education
The movement involved in physical education benefits and educates both the body and the mind, contributes to a positive self concept, develops motor skills to contribute to a life time of health, and keeps the mind alert for further learning throughout the day.
Spanish
Foreign languages are more easily learned in our youth and the exposure to different sounds, different inflections, and different cultures provide a strong basis for further learning and acceptance.
Computers
Today's world is technology driven and our children not only need the computer skills for life after school, but also to more easily access information while in school.
Library
Our library offers an opportunity to further enjoy an enriching selection of literature, a new listening center, and resources for report writing and new knowledge.
Music is an important aspect of our human spirit. It is important to provide opportunities for children to express music in their development of learning. At The Phoenix School this development takes place by exposing the children to listening selections, movement, rhythm, melody, form and harmony. This approach creates excitement about the music, promotes understanding and builds self-confidence through music making. The goal is for students to interact in an environment that is structured and self motivating at the same time.
